Is Capsular Contracture the Body Rejecting Breast Implants?

In this PSC Round Table, board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Kristi Hustak of Houston, Texas, Dr. Richard Restifo of Orange, Connecticut, and Dr. Craig Colville of Toledo, Ohio take on breast augmentation’s most common complication, capsular contracture. The complication is when the capsule – the pocket created where the implant is placed – tightens around the implant. This causes a host of issues including pain, discomfort, and deformities of the chest that are visibly apparent, sometimes even with clothes on.

Is capsular contracture a sign that the body is rejecting breast implants? Possibly, but it’s a bit more complicated than that. The experts break it down on the latest PSC Round Table!
